Tomorrow :)

I begin my 365 days photo project tomorrow.... (!!!)
Wish me luck :)

Here's the link to the blog: [link]
I also have a DeviantArt account. I'm not sure if I'd said that before. Anyway, some people that I've been talking to are also attempting this project.

One of them is ~Katrisa (her DA name), and here is the link to her blog [link]. Also, her DA account [link].

Another is ~OliverParish. He doesn't have a blog for his project, but instead is attempting it on DeviantArt.com. Here is the link to his page [link].
PS. When you click the link, it will tell you you are leaving DeviantArt.com. Go ahead and press continue. It only says that because i copy-pasted the links (so that it would say "link," instead of the entire URL)

Poems

Reality
Feel free to smile
Look up from your work
and realize
This is the real world
Let us know you're still with us.
˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜
Swans
Graceful
peaceful
as if singing to a lullaby
the maidens drift silently along.

The ripples of water
gently caressing their feathers,
a plethora of water lilies surround them
as they dance,
swaying,
becoming one with the water.

TGIS

Thank goodness it's Saturday. I'm so glad this week is coming to an end. I missed two days of school, (Tuesday and Wednesday), because I wasn't feeling well due to the fact that I was getting a cold, and had a sore throat. I hate missing school, because I don't get to see my friends, and I'm stuck at home bored. Not to mention all of the make up work I have to do when I go back.
As much as I love where I live, the thing is, this time of the year in Houston the weather begins to change. All the time. Because of the frequent change in temperature, our bodies aren't well adjusted to the climate, and most people here get sick. Kids miss school, viruses spread..all that fun stuff. Ick. Don't get me wrong, I
love winter. Probably because it's one of the few times of the year that it's not humid and hot. Even though I've lived here my entire life, I still hate the humidity and heat; it's not fun. Anyway, moving on to more important things...

My quotes of the day:
"The greatest good you can do for another is not just to share your riches, but to reveal to him his own." Benjamin Disrael

"We judge ourselves by what we feel capable of doing, while others judge us by what we have already done." Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
PS. I'm going to be creating a photo blog, hopefully tomorrow, for a 365 days photo-project :)

Random thoughts

It is 11:32 PM here in Houston, TX. I just finished my homework, and that's not including the timeline I'm just going to put together before class tomorrow, and the studying that I need to do for my geometry honors test tomorrow. So I guess I'm not really done with my homework anyway..but that's not the point. The point is, that is completely ridiculous! Too much homework tonight. Oh well, on to more interesting things...

My 2 quotes of the day(well...the night):
"Do not fear mistakes. You will know failure. Continue to reach out." Benjamin Franklin

"Through perserverance many people win success our of what seemed destined to be certain failure." Benjamin Disrael

Exhausted

It is 1:05 in the morning here in Houston, Texas. I am extremely tired and all I really want to do at the moment is go to sleep, but instead I'm writing this blog entry. I know that you're probably thinking I'm one of those crazy teenagers who's so addicted to my computer that I feel the need to deprive myself of sleep in order to fulfill my need write on my blog. This is false. We're not all insane you know. In fact, very few of us are.

You'd be surprised how much thought and planning is necessary in order to live the life of a teen. High school is tough people! We have school, homework, studying for tests, and quizzes, sports, extra curricular activities, and we have to do all of this on top of building our resumes so that we can get into college, get a degree, and be successful in life (not that if you don't go to college you won't be successful, but having a degree certainly doesn't hurt). Oh, and on top of all that, it's crucial that we find time to actually have a life!

I'm not really sure where I'm going with this blog entry..but i guess that the point could be that adults really should cut teenagers some slack. Trust me when I say we already have enough going on in our lives, and we don't need the extra pressure. We try. Remember, no one is perfect....and if I may say so, adults are so far from it. But they try, and that's what counts right?

Finally Poetry

We're finally starting our poetry unit in English class. Yes, I said finally.
Call me crazy, but I love poetry. I love reading it, writing it, and watching it. Yep, watching it. Have you ever heard of slam poetry? No? Then you're deprived. Because it's amazing(ly hilarious!). Below is a video of my favorite slam poet, Taylor Mali. This is one of my favorite's slam poems. So press play. Please :)

Poetry- Definitions courtesy of UrbanDictionary.com
Yes, I used Urban Dictionary. The definitions are much more interesting and insightful. Don't believe me? Look up poetry in the dictionary. You'll be bored.

1. Good Poetry- Indirectly stating what you mean or directly stating something that parallels what you really mean. Adding depth and making the reader use their wit through parallels in indirect examples allows for powerful connections and is characterized as poetic writing. Commonly created by patience in organization and witty connections.

2. A scramble of words that may or may not make sense to the reader, but always means something to someone.

This definition even had some poems to look at. How nice:)

FIRE AND ICE BY ROBERT FROST
Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if I had to perish twice.
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.

WARNING BY SHEL SILVERSTEIN
Inside everybody's nose
There lives a sharp-toothed snail.
So if you stick your finger in,
He bite off your nail.
Stick it farther up inside,
And he might bite your ring off.
Stick it all the way, and he
May bite the whole darn thing off.

Libera

Ok so this is Libera. It's an all boys choir, and they sing really high... my middle school choir director is currently obsessed with them. I must say, they are pretty incredible:)

Region Choir Auditions

Today I got to "chaperone" Region Choir Auditions! I'm aware that you probably don't know what that is...basically it's hundreds of middle school kids (grades 7 and 8) all auditioning for "All Region Choir." Region choir is simply the best voices in the region joining together to form a choir. Pretty simple. Anyway, it's a huge deal, and it's very important to me. Last year, I made Region Choir. So this year, I volunteered to help my middle school choir director with the kids auditioning this year:)

Sorry to bore you with the above. haha. So yeah, I got to help out with the auditions this year. It wasn't that bad..I just sat with the kids, hung out and talked for a while. I already knew all about how things were supposed to go because I'd already been through the audition process twice.

I've had a lot of people ask me why I'm in choir. I always tell them I do it because I love it! When you're up there singing in choir, and you realize just how great it sounds, it's one of the best feelings in the world. It makes you feel like you're a part of something special. I guess it's really not something you can understand unless you've done it. At Region Auditions, all the kids gather together in two huge gyms and wait for their turn. But before auditions begin, everyone sings over the music one last time. Together. When I was there today, and I heard that...it was amazing. Who wouldn't want to be a part of something like that?

Hey Jude

I swear, sometimes when I'm sad or just in deep thought I start to hear "Hey Jude" by the Beatles in my head. Haha, weird huh? It happened last night. I was sitting on my bed thinking and I just started to hear it. haha. I guess it's just because it's such a great song.. it's pretty uplifting in my opinion :) Plus, it's one of the very few songs I can still play on my guitar. lol

Friday Friday Friday

Right now I'm in blogging class. Today's our last day of interim term :( It's been so much fun! It's been really nice to get to take a break from my regular classes. You get kind of tired of them after a while. Interim term is all about learning new things, and exploring new interests (i think..). It definitely serves it's purpose. I am glad that it's Friday though... I'm ready for the weekend.

This weekend, on Saturday, I'm going to be helping my middle school choir director at Region Choir Auditions. They're a huge deal... and because I got in last year it should be really interesting to get a closer look at what goes on behind the scenes, and what's really involved in the audition process. I think he's going to be one of the judges for the boys, so I'll probably get to sit in on the auditions. That should be interesting. haha. I have to wake up at about 5:00 in the morning though, so I can be at my middle school by 6:00. The bus leaves at 7:00. It's totally worth it though, because I get to see some of my friends in 8th grade :)

TGIF!!! :D

Flowers

Just a few pictures that I took:) Random.

Ranch

This picture is one that I took at a friends ranch... it's up on my blog because, well, I love it. I love the picture, I love the place, and I love the ranch. It's totally perfect. Totally me. When I go to college, I plan on double majoring in psychology and business. Why? Because I'm interested in psychology, I think it's something I would be good at, and if I add a business degree it equals a ton of different job options. haha. Anyway, the point is, eventually I think it'd be great to own a ranch as beautiful as this one... or at least a lot of land. I'm not sure why, but I really like the idea of that. I like the idea of having plenty of space to myself, to just do whatever. You know, just a bunch of open land where I can just go sit in the middle of a field and think. It sounds nice. So yeah...that's why it's up here. :)

SweatPants are Comfy

Home now:) Today was a really good day. We finished our book in Children's Lit! Now, I'm sitting on my bed chatting on facebook, wearing the reeeeally big sweat pants I bought at our school store. They were the smallest size they had left. lol. Anyway, because it's interim term (and its freezing) we don't have to wear our uniforms. So last week, I wore my sweats to school one day. I felt like I was at school in my pajamas. Yeah... The end.

Ps. At least I wasn't IN my pajamas... I keep on seeing boys wearing their pajamas to school. I think that's strange.

17 Again...

Now I'm in blogging class... and we're watching 17 Again. When you think about it, the movie's actually pretty much like high school in real life. Maybe a little exaggerated..and without all the crazy parts where kids catch fire, and parents becoming 17 again... haha. Many people talk about how much they hated high school, and how terrible it was. You hear about how high school is hell, but it's really not. Not for me. I actually like it. There are so many new people and opportunities. It's like a whole new adventure! What's not to love?

Favorite quote from the movie: "When you're young, everything feels like the end of the world. But it's not, it's just the beginning."

Oh, and by the way, if you haven't seen the movie click on the title of this post and you can watch the trailer on YouTube.

Blah

Right now i'm in my grade level class. I am...
  • bored
  • cold (yes, i do have a jacket on)
  • tired of sitting here in this stupid desk
  • really wanting to go outside and breathe fresh air (well..sorta fresh)
  • still bored
  • just now realizing that the color of the walls in this classroom are a really ugly shade of beige...
  • thinking about how much i hate that this building has chalkboards instead of whiteboards like the B and C buildings do... luckily the teacher's not using them (at this moment)
  • thinking about how much i dislike my biology teacher (who just so happens to be teaching this course). I was looking forward to a break from her during interim term, and instead i actually have her longer than i would with my normal schedule
  • wishing they had someone a little more exciting to listen to teaching this class

Inner Child

Today I blogged (duh), illustrated a children's book (that we wrote) with my friends, and fingerpainted. Yes, fingerpainted. And I did all of this at school. It may sound totally crazy, and I guess it is, but it was so much fun! It's interim term at my school, so we get to take a break from our regular schedule and take some more laid back classes. I'm taking blogging and "a spiritual journey into children's literature." I know the second one sounds really boring, but it's not. It's actually a lot of fun! Last week, all we did was read children's books and talk about them. This week, we're "getting in touch with our inner child," by doing different activities at the beginning of class. After that we work on writing and illustrating our own Children's books. So far I've gotten to decorate cookies, watch Veggie Tales, play hopscotch, and fingerpaint.

In blogging... well, we learn about blogs. We read them, discuss them, and write our own. And while we blog? We watch movies and TV shows, and listen to music. SoMuchFun:D

Not bad classes to take, if you ask me. :)

Everything :)

Have you ever had someone tell you they want to know everything about you? I have. It was just the other day, actually. One of those totally unexpected moments when you sort of rewind things in your mind, and wonder "did they really just say that?" I was texting my friend when it happened. I know him pretty well. After all, I talk to him almost every day. The thing is, he doesn't know that much about me. So I asked him what he wanted to know. His reply? "Everything :)". And yes, the smiley face was included. lol.

I'm definitely not the type of girl who enjoys talking about herself. I know many who are, but I'm just not one of them. Personally, I'd rather listen to what someone else has to say. So having someone tell me they want to know everything about me is surprising, and a little (weird). I had no idea what to say or where to begin. The truth is, people are so complex that no one really knows everything about a person. It's just not possible. We don't even know everything about ourselves.

Of course, I didn't end up listing everything about myself in a text message and sending it to my friend. It's just not possible, and I would have no idea what to say. So instead, we ended up playing the question game. You know, where you take turns asking each other questions. Any question you want to ask, the other person answers. We're still playing. It takes a long time to get to know a person, but isn't that what friendship is all about? Thank God for friends; I have the best:)

Welcome

This blog is basically all about my life and thoughts. Whatever is on my mind, will go up here. You know how sometimes you just can't get something out of your head? Well, that happens to me a lot. Usually when this happens, what I do is just write a stream of thoughts in my journal, but instead, I'm going to put it up here. Ever wonder what's going on inside the mind of a teen? What's really going on inside our heads? Well, here's your answer.
